Toghether with Petra Blaisse we turned the design for Genoa into a temporary piece of art. During the Milano design week 2023 Inside Outside presented their project to the public. MONDiLAB used a brand new material to make this presentation soft and transparant.

Art is about sharing what’s inside a human soul, using the language of aesthetics. While my inspiration comes from fashion and cosmetics, my art comes from the heart.
My artworks are a fusion of myself and the mixed mediums I work with—my intuition and personality melt together and drive my creativity—representing itself in confident depictions of beautiful, stylish women.
I believe that art stimulates thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and ideas through the senses. My hope is to engage with the dialogue of today’s beauty standards and society’s obsession with aesthetics, to make a bold, visual statement that activates awareness, inspires emotion, and compels viewers to look inward and feel the innate beauty and confidence within themselves.
Art is for everyone to enjoy.
For a textile collection I worked with MONDiLAB te get my work woven. The result is 4 works in 140 by 198 cm!

Co-Creatie met Cole Labs
Mode illustrator Margot van Huijkelom, geboren in 1966 te Venlo, woont en werkt in Frankrijk. In 1990 studeert Margot af aan de Kunstacademie «ArtEZ» (Arnhem). Met een masterdiploma op zak verlaat Margot Nederland om de wereld van de Parijse elegantie te ontdekken, dat haar werk als artdirector, illustrator en schilder beïnvloedde.
Het werk van Margot is veel gepubliceerd in tijdschriften – Vogue Japan, Vogue Pelle, Vogue Gioiello, Harrods magazine, L’Officiel Japan, Journal Le Monde, The Telegraph en meer.
Margot werkt al sinds 2011 met Vogue Japan. Ze illustreerde maandelijks een column (dubbele pagina “Jan says”) De dagelijkse uitgaven van Journal Le Monde – tijdens de haute couture shows – onthulde haar werk aan het grote publiek met haar artistieke interpretaties van de shows. Margot is opgenomen in de edities 2011, 2014 en 2017 van Taschen “Fashion illustration now”
Wanneer Margot wordt gevraagd door een bedrijf in Tokio, is dat het begin van een twintigjarige werkrelatie met Japan. Het is in Tokio waar ze kennis maakt met een discipline die een sterke inspiratiebron is geworden voor haar werk – de kunst van het houtblok drukken met het delicate werk van fijne lijnen op handgemaakt papier. Met onberispelijke behendigheid in haar getekende lijnen herschept Margot met fijnheid en intensiteit scènes die vooral schoonheid, goede smaak en vrouwelijkheid uitstralen.
Een woord om de creaties van Margot te beschrijven is multidisciplinair: het combineren van verschillende media en verworven vaardigheden, om een kunstwerk te maken binnen een gehybridiseerd veld. Intense tinten worden transparanter door verdunning van de pigmenten, die het tussen aquarellen of andere media trekt. Dan komen uit de monochrome creaties nuances tevoorschijn in een levendige en contrasterende kleur, die onze aandacht trekt. Zoals de vaak karmijnrode mond die een assertieve sensualiteit benadrukt.
Bijna ontdaan door haar omgeving waarin de vrouw de hoofdrol speelt, zo zijn haar papieren creaties, beslissend en meeslepend. Margot neemt ons mee naar waar ze ons wil brengen. Haar lijnen die ze in potlood, penseel of pen uitvoert, zijn als een brug tussen het echte en het denkbeeldige, haar poëzie van contrasten. Ze laat ons ‘de vrouw’ door haar eigen ogen ervaren, met haar passie en talent.
Margot lijkt ons een prachtige metafoor voor vrouwen te geven. Zoals de kunstenares waarschijnlijk is, is de vrouw de personificatie van de fusie van tegenstellingen, krachtig en sterk en tegelijkertijd zachtaardig en moedig, romantisch en bevrijd, elegant en sensueel … Er is in haar werken een vanzelfsprekendheid die op een natuurlijke, duidelijke manier ontstaat: deze vrouw die vrouwen schetst, weet dat allemaal te vertegenwoordigen, ze zijn intrinsiek, in complexiteit en schoonheid. Een mooie ode aan de vrouw en haar vrouwelijkheid.

Hala Yousif, is textile designer and owner of Halle Design. Textiles are her life and her passion.
She wants to make the world a more beautiful place and connect worlds with textiles.
Her textile designs are influenced by her life story. It is a journey from her country of origin, Iraq, to the Northern countries of Europe.
In Bagdad, at the Iraqi Fashion House, her textile designs are inspired by the old Mesopotamian cultures and arts.
In Stockholm, Sweden, the ice and snow are extremely contrasting, however very inspiring for her designs. The color palette shifts towards pure and clear colors, with the emergence of white. Patterns simplify and minimize.
She further develops her feeling for colors, material and textile design techniques at the high-end fabrics atelier Malhia Kent in Paris and at the Textielmuseum in Tilburg, the Netherlands.
With her extensive knowledge and experience she can work out for your projects unique textile designs for acoustic improvements, upholstery, curtains, wall coverings, rugs and wall art in her very own style, which she calls ‘A Scandinavian Tale of 1001 Nights’. However, she also loves to work out with you any custom made designs.

Kees Marcelis presenteert dit jaar, in samenwerking met MONDiLAB, zijn nieuwste ontwerp: De Onda. Dit bijzondere object is een heerlijk ligbed in de zomer en een golvend kunstobject wanneer deze niet in gebruik is. De gebogen zitting lijkt uit de grond te groeien en blend zo helemaal in met zijn omgeving.
Het kussen dat door het bed is “geweven” is ontwikkeld en geproduceerd door MONDiLAB. Het is gemaakt met een bedrukte velvet textiel. Het design is gemaakt met krijt en verf. Daarna digitaal gemaakt om het het textiel te zetten.

Saskia Boelsums is een Nederlandse landschapsfotograaf. Haar werk wordt over de hele wereld gewaardeerd. Verschillende kunstcollecties hebben werk van haar opgenomen en ze exposeert regelmatig in gerenommeerde galerieën en op hoog aangeschreven kunstbeurzen in alle wereldsteden. Met haar landschapsfoto’s wint ze regelmatig nationale en internationale prijzen. Onder andere was ze Kunstenaar van het Jaar, een erkenning – genomineerd door een vakjury en gekozen door het publiek – als meest gewaardeerde Nederlandse kunstenaar.
Saskia (1960) is geboren in Nederland en groeide op in Iran en op Curaçao. Ze volgde een opleiding tot beeldend kunstenaar aan de academie Minerva in Groningen, Nederland. Sinds een aantal jaren legt ze zich volledig toe op landschapsfotografie. In haar fotografie maakt ze volop gebruik van haar kennis en ervaring op het gebied van beeldende kunst. Omdat ze in haar landschapsfoto’s de werkwijze en technieken gebruikt die ook een schilder zou toepassen, heeft haar werk een enorme zeggingskracht.
In haar landschapsfoto’s vertaalt Saskia Boelsums haar liefde voor de natuur in verrassende en ontroerend mooie foto’s van bijzondere landschappen. Saskia werkt in de traditie van beroemde landschapsschilders als John Constable, Van Gogh, Maris en Jacob van Ruisdael. Haar foto’s zijn overweldigend en schilderachtig.
Haar natuurbeleving via fotografie overbrengen, is de drijfveer van Saskia. Zij is bij uitstek de landschapsfotograaf die de indrukwekkende, soms woeste en even vaak kwetsbare schoonheid van de natuur in beeld weet te vangen.

(Un) Finished
I saw the unfinished painting of Marie-Antoinette by Alexander Kucharsky for the first time in an exhibition in Paris more than 10 years ago.
I was fascinated by how the detailed face and background mixed with blank, unfinished areas. It made the painting appear almost modern. Furthermore the unfinished painting also tells a more layered story than a finished one. It shows that the portrayed (Marie-Antoinette) has fallen from grace during the realisation of the work. As the Queen was imprisoned and later tried and executed, the painting was never finished. A blow, from a pike, by a revolutionary is visible on the lower part of the work; an almost literal sign off the times.
For MONDiLAB I created a new version of the painting combining print and machine embroidery. The embroidered polka dots give yet another layer to the painting making it more contemporary. The polka dot pattern is embroidered in different densities; dense on the outside and fading towards the face.
The second work in the series is an unfinished painting/sketch of Napoleon. In stead of polka dots this work is embroidered with a pattern of bees. The symbol of the bee was chosen by Napoleon torepresent his status as an emperor.

BLOCBIRDS is about the beauty of the birds around us, which remains unseen to many. You will only see this beauty if you really look. The amount of colour, the variety and relationship of the colours, as well as their positioning, give each bird its unique, characteristic plumage. In this case, all we need to do is sit back and enjoy. Mother Nature will do the rest.
Paul & Albert havecaptured this beauty in 25 graphic compositions of 25 birds. The works are abstract compositions of square colour fields.

The showcase of Artisan Intelligence redefines surfaces with my design guidance as a textile engineer, utilizing AI as an inspirational tool.
The expose Artisan Intelligence consists of six design pieces. Each piece embodies a metaclassical style, blending state-of-the-art with heritage.
The Gobelin ‘Metapolis’, born from the collaboration between Cole Brekoo of MONDiLAB and my studio, displays the fusion of AI-inspired graphics with the intricacy of woven craftsmanship. The curtains ‘Urbana & Biophilia’ show embroidered patterns inspired by biophilic and geometric shapes, crafted with delicate threads.
Complementing this is the pouf ‘Metaluna’, a distinctive piece crafted from merged halfmoons, offering comfort and practicality at the same time. The hand-tufted rug ‘Arco’ exemplifies metaclassical architecture in elegant designs by skilled artisans.

Nieuwe Pieneman voor Paleis Soestdijk
Het beroemde schilderij van Jan Willem Pieneman ” De slag bij Quatre Bras” heeft Paleis Soestdijk verlaten in verband met een restauratie.
Maya Meijer-Bergmans, eigenaar van het paleis, heeft Nicole Uniquole gevraagd om voor een stijlvolle reproductie te zorgen.
Speciaal voor de tentoonstelling ontwikkelt Uniquole in samenwerking met MONDiLAB een reproductie van het werk gemaakt in fluweelzacht textiel.

De tentoonstelling Winterpaleis is te zien van 16 December 2022 tot 8 Januari 2023.

De vrouwen van Soestdijk,
Samen met Nicole Uniquole organiseert Paleis Soestdijk een grote najaarstentoonstelling in 2023. Paleis Soestdijk dankt zijn illustere status óók aan de vrouwen die hier de afgelopen eeuwen ’s zomers maar al te graag verbleven. In de tentoonstelling ‘De vrouwen van Soestdijk’ zal het rijke verleden van dit paleis, gecombineerd met schitterende portretten, foto’s, hedendaagse mode, design en ambacht, uitgebreid te zien zijn.
Voor deze tentoonstelling mocht MONDiLAB de reproducties van de schilderijen en fotos verzorgen.
‘De vrouwen van Soestdijk’ is vanaf 12 oktober 2023 t/m 7 januari 2024* te bezoeken op woensdag t/m zondag van 11:00 – 17:00 uur.
